The General Data Protection Regulation provides a modernized and accountability-based framework for data protection in Europe.
In this regard, Article 12 of the GDPR, under the heading 'Transparent information, communication and modalities for the exercise of the rights of the data subject', establishes the following in its paragraph 1:
The controller shall take appropriate measures to provide any information referred to in Articles 13 and 14 and any communication under Articles 15 to 22 and 34 relating to processing to the data subject in a concise, transparent, intelligible and easily accessible form, using a
clear and plain language, in particular for any information addressed specifically to a child. The information shall be provided in writing, or by other means, including, where appropriate, by electronic means. When requested by the data subject, the information may be provided orally, provided that the identity of the data subject is proven by other means.
In order to reconcile the greater demand for information introduced by the GDPR with conciseness and clarity in the way it is presented, Data Protection Authorities recommend adopting a layered or multi-level information model.

The multi-level information approach consists of
next:

• Presenting basic information at a first level, in a summarized form, at the same time and in the same medium in which the data is collected.
• Referring to additional information at a second level, where the rest of the information will be presented in detail, in a medium better suited for its presentation, understanding, and, if desired, archiving.
