Uno es la neurociencia con el objetivo general de comprender los mecanismos de la funci\u00f3n cortical y subcortical implicados en el procesamiento de la informaci\u00f3n y la consolidaci\u00f3n de la memoria. En un aspecto m\u00e1s traslacional, trabajamos con poblaciones pedi\u00e1tricas y adultas, con el objetivo general de comprender la plasticidad del desarrollo de redes cerebrales en la salud y despu\u00e9s de traumas.<\/p><p>La amnesia o p\u00e9rdida de la capacidad para almacenar nueva informaci\u00f3n sobre eventos que ocurren en un contexto espacio-temporal est\u00e1 asociado a afectaci\u00f3n del hipocampo y las \u00e1reas con las que est\u00e1 conectado; la corteza cerebral l\u00edmbica y el dienc\u00e9falo. La vulnerabilidad del hipocampo a hipoxia\/isquemia y a una gran diversidad de patolog\u00edas (epilepsia, encefalitis, enfermedad de Alzheimer etc.,) hace que este el tipo de amnesia sea la m\u00e1s com\u00fan. En el Reino Unido, sobre el 0.5% de la poblaci\u00f3n (66 Mill.) acude a las cl\u00ednicas de memoria del sistema nacional de salud (Hodge et al., 2015). Sin embargo, el desconocimiento de la incidencia de este problema en Espa\u00f1a, la falta de especializaci\u00f3n neuropsicol\u00f3gica en el diagn\u00f3stico y la falta de programas de rehabilitaci\u00f3n, son factores que afectan negativamente a los pacientes que sufren este tipo de problema. Esta situaci\u00f3n es lo que nos ha motivado a crear esta Cl\u00ednica de la Memoria con los objetivos de: a) determinar la frecuencia de problemas de memoria en que se ven en el CHUA de Albacete, b) implementar un protocolo de diagn\u00f3stico, sobre bases de neuroimagen presentes en la literatura y derivadas de nuestros propios estudios anat\u00f3micos sobre la regi\u00f3n hipocampal, las \u00e1reas con las que est\u00e1 conectado y la neuropsicolog\u00eda de la memoria, y c) implementar un programa de rehabilitaci\u00f3n que sirva de puente entre la pr\u00e1ctica cl\u00ednica de la neurolog\u00eda y las asociaciones de pacientes.
